Top Laptop Predictons for 2010
Lenovo ThinkPad T400s
Lenovo are one of the top names in the portable PC market, and its ThinkPad T400 Series is designed to propel them into 2010. The devices will utilise touchscreen technology, so when you tap on the screen it brings up a control panel from which you can control the PC, open programmes, launch applications — everything. The notebook also features a 14.1-inch screen, which is protected with ant fingerprint coating. The notebook is priced at around £700-£800 – although, prices could be subject to change following its official release in the new year.

Asus dual-screen laptop
Asus aired its dual-screen laptop at the CeBit 2009 convention Germany this year, which, obviously, has two dual-screens. However, one interesting aspect is the virtual touchscreen keyboard — just like you get on the iPhone. The idea is that having two screen s is that it will make it more versatile than a simple tablet device.
The basic premise behind the dual-screen is that the user, through hand gestures, will be able to control a surface that is both flexible and intuitive. According to a press statement by Asus, users will be able to use the notebook in a number of useful ways. For example, they will be able to use it as a conventional notebook with multi-touch screens, a virtual keyboard and touchpad; a multimedia hub, in which both dual panels could combine to form a larger display for widescreen entertainment; or an E-book mode in which users can hold the dual panel concept notebook just like they would a conventional book while flipping pages through intuitive gestures or by touch.
Samsung LED range
Samsung has announced that it will be releasing its first OLED screen laptop in the third quarter of 2010. Obviously, OLED technology has been used in MP3 players, televisions, and digital picture frames for quite some time now, however, it has yet to surface on PCs. According to reports, Samsung have stated that once the technology is available, they will release it, and early suggestions indicate that the third quarter of 2010 is the initial prediction for when we’ll be able to get our hands on one.
Obviously, the benefits of an OLED screen will make laptops a lot more attractive as viewing and entertainment units by vastly improving the picture quality. While nothing has been made “official” just yet, it is looking increasingly likely that this could be a trend to watch out for in 2010.
Canova dual-touchscreen laptop
The Canova dual-touchscreen laptop, which was created by an Italian design agency, known as V12, over the last four years, is another laptop that attempts to harness the up-and-coming trend for touchscreen devices. There has been a lot of talk about this device, particularly because it so good looking, and also, that it could be landing at some point during 2010.
According to reports, V12’s original design is currently being re-jigged and prepped for a release in 2010. In addition to this, the dual-touchscreen laptop will feature a multi touch input, a haptic feedback keyboard, and a built in microphone for voice recognition. Unfortunately, news regarding memory, storage, and OSs is pretty thin on the ground at this stage. However, all indications suggest that the dual-screener will land in 2010, so watch this space!
